Translate Fix and Game Modification

Hello,
I must be a bit dense because I don't understand how to use the Translate Fix. I have a game whose translation produces some strange sentences, and I'd like to fix them.
Could someone kindly explain in detail how to do this?
And I'd also like to know if it's possible to permanently translate a game with MTool and how to do it.
